Embrace the Charm of the Countryside

The North Cotswolds is renowned for its picturesque villages, rolling hills, and historic charm. Wander hand-in-hand through the cobblestone streets of Chipping Campden, explore the quaint tea rooms of Broadway, or visit the stunning Hidcote Manor Garden, where vibrant blooms create a kaleidoscope of colour. Or wander off the tourist track to picnic under the stars, listen to the birdsong and scrump the first sharp blackberries.

Indulge in Local Delights

August is the season of abundance in the Cotswolds. As the farming calendar reaches its peak, harvests start rolling in.  Enjoy the freshest farm-fresh produce at local markets, village fetes and roadside shops. Dine al fresco at charming country pubs, or savour a romantic picnic amidst the tranquil countryside. For gin enthusiasts, a visit to the local distillery for a tasting tour is a must.

Special Events in August

  • 7th -11th Hartpury 4* Eventing -  a lovely venue to watch the exciting equine sport of Eventing.  Where horse and rider trust and bonds are tested in Dressage, Cross-Country and Showjumping.  Each discipline calls for the height of calm energy, endurance and stamina.  An event to see the future Olympic champions hone and develop their skills.

  • 2nd - 4th Gloucestershire Vintage & Country Extravaganza - Farming UK - like to get heady on the whiff of combusting two stroke!  This is the place to get your buzz.  Vintage displays of all sorts of lovingly restored and maintained vehicles. There is also a vintage steam fair, crafts and trade stands.  What a fantastic way to spend a day.

  • 23rd-25th The Big Feastival, Kingham - I know it's a bit of a cheat, but tenting is unpleasant when you reach a certain age, and the glamping is eye wateringly expensive.  Have the best of both worlds, visit one of the best Festivals this country has to offer but have a shower and comfy bed to sneak back to.  Kingham is only a few villages over. Psst, they have a better lineup than Glastonbury this year (in my humble opinion)

  • 26th Football in the river, Bourton on the Water - Local chaos and mayhem.  Cotswolds at its best. It's traditional!

Bank Holiday 26th - You will not be able to move in the Cotswolds for Village Fete’s, Flower Shows or local events.  Spend the weekend splatting rats, buying homemade jams and cake, watching dog shows and eating cream tea’s.
